    Louder than all get out

I decided today to redo the plumbing on my overflow box, put in a ball valve so that I could stop it for feeding with out the need to restart the siphon.

Its an Eshops overflow (i think its a 180gph) with dual outlets.

Pulled the flexible hose off and replaced it with 1" PVC. I dont know if using smaller pipe made the difference or if its just a case of trapping air, but it took a resonably quiet system and made it loud, like a toilet flushing repeatedly..

Any ideas of how I can modify it to shut the gurgle up?

    Thanks in advance

Try running airline tubing down the drain line to release the air. it helped with my overflow

You have air trapped as suggested – your drains are filling with water until the weight of the water overpowers the upward pressure of the air bubble and it flushes, exactly like a toilet.

When you plumb your drain lines try to keep everything running downward using 45’s rather than straight runs using 90’s – its these straight runs that trap the air. I have had success in the past with installing a Tee in the line and running a breather pipe up behind the tank that is left open, this way the air is released.

So would you put the T in between the "goal posts" get a 4 way and run the vent there?
