    the hard part is going to get the acrylic to stick to the tank since it will be holding water and plumbing... right? do it with glass and you're set. couldn't you paint the glass and still do the external bean idea? by the way i love all the "Outside the Box" thinking!!!!... pun wasn't initially intended

    only other thing to think about is using the bulkheads to allow the flow to the box... im saying this because by reading about you worrying about the skimmer noise and having a gl@$$ ho!es overflow myself its pretty noisy... just something else to consider

    It will be built like a glass holes box, so 4 sides and held to the tank by the bulkheads.
