Ya pretty much, I mean I love it the way it is but it could be slightly less blue. Might try and switch a couple bulbs to 12k.

I hate these t5s. I switch the 10ks off and run the actinics and I'm like AHHHHHHHHH

Plus I hate that there is absolutely no shimmer.

I just got the rocks (30lbs) from Reefcleaners. Awesome rocks and great price. Have been playing with them all evening 8)

 

When I first set up my 150 it had come with a set of 10 reto t5s. They had great color but after looking at halides I HATED them. I know exactly how you feel. I thought these are too blue, looks smurfy, and FLAT as all heck! I complained to my friends soo much they were like "If you don't change your lights we are going to," they were thinking I may just quit. Yes the hate was that strong. I was forced into buying them with the tank because of the reto job, and the "money" was like you will not spend any more money on lights when you just spent 800 on this system here! So what did I do? I reto'ed the reto. I cut it down so that there were 2 3 sections of lights. Then I mounted the pendant 250w (14k) mh over the tank to hang in between. And wha-la I loved tank again. I think it maybe really hard for us that dig MH to switch to a 100% t5 set up, it's just to "fakey" IMO after looking at MH. So there are some pretty cool things about LEDs that you can get a strip or 2 and add back some of the shimmer. I am sorry you are hating it, I feel your pain

Also getting ready to build a cabinet to sit next to the tank that matches my stand. I've been trying to figure out a way to build an ATS lately and cant find a way to do it. I'm cramped for room in the sump and under the stand is maxed out due to the lower stand height. I finally decided that I'm sick of having no room and to get the tank to the next level, I'm going to need to add some more equipment. The new cabinet will house a custom built ATS, top off system, power switches, led drivers, etc.

 

At least add some stunner strips to you t5s so you won't hat your tank it's funny you call her the boss lol. When I refer to my husband and am speaking about my tank I call him "the money"

Lol, he's already got a rapid led kit, he just needs to expand it!

 

I have to put away the same amount into the saving account to buy any aquarium related stuff. Meaning I have to somehow come up with the DOUBLE of the initial cost..

Just thought I would share a list of mods/additions that I will be doing to the tank here in the next couple weeks or so.

New Lighting


I will be doing a build thread for a DIY led light. A 36 dimmable kit from Rapid LED, mounted on a 8.46" x 30" heatsink from heatsinkUSA. The light will be hung over the tank from the ceiling. Colors are as follows:

18 Royal Blue
12 Cool White
6 Neutral White

Algae Turf Scrubber

BRS Mesh Screen Tops

I've had a roll of BRS clear mesh sitting in a box for 3 months. I will finally be getting some DIY window screen frame and making my tops to put on once the light build is done.

Power Station/ATS/ATO Cabinet

I have already started on a cabinet to match my stand that will sit next to the tank. It will be an uber sweet all in one cabinet to neatly house all of my electrical components, the ATS, and an ATO container and pump.


Thats alot of work that I'm hoping to get done on the tank in the next few weeks. I will try to document everything and be super pic heavy ;D
