Coming from experience it all ONLY works if you stick to the diet. My best friend since high school has a 30 day plan and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is a novice, it's just too brutal to attempt cold turkey. Just keep in mind once you finish, keep using some sort of adaptation of the diet the plan that was given to you. Most of us know how to workout and cardio, I believe most these programs are to help with diet. I love my beers too much to stay on a "strict" diet. Luckily for me I have never liked sweets and chose whole grain over white anyway. Good luck, stay strong and finish the race!!

I agree with Daniel Cam. 2500 calories is not much at all doing that workout and at your age. Don't chase the scale, muscle weighs more. How your clothes fit is a better indication of whether you're losing fat.

What does the program say that you should be eating calorie wise?

I've done both insanity and p90 - did the full 60 days of insanity averaging 5 days a week of it - it's tough, especially as time goes on, it starts to take a toll on your wrists, knees, etc but if you want to get lean, it's the best workout I've done. Biggest hurdle is getting over the monotony of only having the 3 DVDs per month, but if you stick to it, it will be 100% worth it. I'm 5'11" 170-175 in good shape and dropped down to just around 160 and didn't have much to lose in the first place. I think as far as calories per minute, it has to be one of the highest burn rates out there - stick with it, try to clean up your diet a bit (you don't need to go wild, but cut down on sweets and fried foods, sodas, etc) and you will be in darn good shape at the end of it

Yeah it said to eat 2,900 calories to maintain weight and 2,400 calories to lose weight. I'll start eating more. And thanks for the support, everyone!

yes, listen to your body. It's telling you to eat more since it doesn't seem possible to drink more :) Try to eat smaller meals throughout the day instead of three big ones. Make sure breakfast is a really healthy meal. As Kwm said, cut down on the bad stuff - you don't need to go wild on the diet portion of the program since you're building muscle and burning so many calories with the actual workout.

Yeah I guess I should eat more. I've been eating small meals, but I guess they're too small :p I've been eating a lot of fruits, vegetables, and protein, along with some whole grains.

I haven't read all the posts in the thread so I don't know what's been touched upon already but I completed the workout. I gave it my all and skipped nothing. I did not do the diet plan but I made a conscious effort to eat better. I started the workout enthusiastically because I was told I would see results after the first week. I didn't. However I kept at it. The fit tests allowed me to see that I was getting markedly better so I let that be good enough indication that i was on the right track. After I finished the workout I began to see all my results in the next two weeks and I was quite pleased.

The workout was absolute murder on my knees. It got to the point I had to wear braces. But I didn't quit and drove on through it. After a few weeks in things got better and I didn't need the braces and soon after that I had no more pain. I took a month off and started the workout again figuring that by starting in better shape I'd be able to go even harder and thus would get even better results. Surprisingly, it started wrecking my knees again and because I need them for something that can impact the future of my family in the next week I put the second time around on hold until after I'm done with this thing.

It's great to hear that you were able to push through :)

So my headache finally went away today. I need to start back up, but I'm two days behind. Should I start where I was last, or start over?

I suppose I should clarify, I took a month off after completing the workout and decided to do it again. I don't know where you should start back up because I refused to skip a single day regardless of pain or not feeling well because I was sick.
