insert a DIY 3d background in established tank?

    I really have been spending time looking at DIY 3d backgrounds and would love to try one. I have a spare 10 gallon I might try it on. However, more specifically I really would love to make one for my 40g acrylic tank thats been setup for roughly 9 months. If i kept all the sand/equipment/liverock/corals/fish/everything currently in the tank, and just moved it all to make room for the DIY 3d background, do you think everything would be ok?
