So I decided to go out and get a asm-g2 protein skimmer. Well I had to turn off the return pump and overflow box a few times to get the setup right and all to fit, as it was a very tight squeeze. The only way I could get it to fit is the skimmer sits on top of the return pump now, but neither are obstructing any flow and the water should be the same and just as clean with the setup, as its all the water after the sump filtering and live rock.

My question is my water is cloudy looks like a lot of little particles floating around. Now is this just because of all the on and off starting up of the pumps? Should I do anything to let it settle or filter out? Maybe turn off the powerheads for awhile? I just dont want anything to upset or happent to the anemone or fish. Thanks for all the help.

It probably from having the pumps off and on and string up the sump just wait it out and it should settle. unless it is micro bubbles from the skimmer.?

Not sure, to be honest I have some little bubbles on the sides of the tanks here and there, but the stuff in the water im talking about are more particle sized and doesnt look like a bubble, Also the return pump has the little filter sponge on it so Id think the bubbles even if the skimmer was making some wouldnt make it in the return trip. So Like you said Im hoping its just the on off of all the equipment.

I agree. If its not micro bubbles its prob. stuff that got mixed up in the sump.

Whenever I turn my return pump off (during maitneance) and turn it back on I also get a lot of white type particles floating around in my tank (tank setup for 11 months) it almost looks like coepod skeletons (but not all). I have been thinking of taking return hose off of tank and pump and pass a brush of some type through to clean it. Although my tank does not get cloudy. I know this is not coming from sump, because I cleaned sump out last month and same thing happened.
