I have one concern. I have the overflow line going down below where the water level will be to reduce noise and splashing. will that cause an issue?

It won't cause any issues but it may cause there to be a loud bubbling sound. Sometimes louder than splashing. You will have to try it out. You might have to shorten the piping to right at the waterline. Toddsnails just told me about the reverse durso. I did it and it worked perfectly.

I can't for the life of me figure out a way to go from this 1 1/4 threaded bulkhead to a 1" non-threaded 1" pipe. Any help? see picture below (overflow box). I'm going to have a fun time moving the tank onto the stand.

Your going to want to do a threaded to slip fitting then get a 1 1/4" to 1" reducer slip slip. Hope that makes sense.

I see! you're overflow is different than mine. When I was thinking about doing a algae scrubber this what I was going to use. Algae would have grown real nice on that fine screen mesh.

It does. I'll have to see if the HD has those items. I hope they do.

I think I decided against the scrubber as it would be really difficult to set up in the sump that I have.

Ok so I was able to finally pull the pic up. You'll need
    -1 1/4" female threaded to 1 1/4" slip
    - 1 1/4" slip to 1" slip reducer

You'll only need 2 fittings. With that you can get to of the threaded to slip 1" fitting.

This is what you'll need except 1 1/4" female threaded not male like mine shows

Makes sense, appreciate it! Seem like uncommon parts, so hopefully the HD has them.
