    who has/wants/needs insurance for their fish aquarium(s)?

    i am getting insurance on it asap. my boyfriend actually gave the idea to me....cause its a pricey hobby! haha

    There are people who do. I contacted my insurance provider once and they said they could cover all equipment etc but would not cover livestock. I don't blame them. You will most likely find that most insurance won't cover livestock either but I'm not 100% sure as I haven't checked with anyone other than my insurance.

    yah they only said equipment for me too. that was my main consern however. sounds bad but i had a feeling they wouldnt cover the animals.

    they also won't cover equipment damaged by acts of god or power failures so something to keep in mind, I'd recommend putting all your equipment on UPS' anyway, can buy them at any computer store

    i got all my equipment hooked up to power surge stuff so if lightening does decide to hit my house all i need to get is a new power serge.....worth $20 haha

    Side note here,

    Most insurance companies will not cover water damage caused by an aquarium. For that you usually need a special rider...

    My company covers loss of tank and equipment, but not livestock.

    I wonder if they would cover diy aquariums such as plywood ones or acrylic ones. would be interesting.
