this is a location oriented thread!

in my area, I won't use FedEx. They're terrible.

I've seen them throw boxes of coral at my front door and let it slide down and land on the ground. (Another time they smashed a bottle of perfume I had ordered as a Xmas gift too) They are never on time, often off by 2 days or more. Several instances of 'not at home' when I was. And more than once they made 0 attempts to deliver and called me to pick up at their distribution center.

One time I was watching the dude put a note on my door through the peep hole. I opened the door when I saw his hand going for it... That surprised him. I asked if he had something for me. He had to go back to the truck to get it. Wouldn't give me the note he was about to leave either.

I hate FedEx. If a company only ships with them, I do not use that company. Period.

UPS is awesome. Always on time, never broke anything, etc. What can brown do for you?! ::)

But USPS is my favorite though. I've had great service with them.

:-/ This subject tends to walk a fine line. I think OP wanted to hear good/quirky stories. Not how much you hate delivery companies. I'm sure anyone can share a bad experience about all the big name delivery companies.

So my "job" is I run a glass blowing studio.. several years ago we ordered 8 cartons of high temperature refractory (kiln) bricks. Each carton is 50# of bricks in a cardboard box with just a number on the side (IFB2300). They were shipped UPS and when the guy delivered them he jokingly said "what's in the boxes, bricks?" .. when I told him they were in fact bricks he was a little annoyed that people would send boxes of bricks UPS. But he was cool about it. Put them on 2 dolly loads, and got them off the truck no problem.

Now days when I ship glass i use FedEx... neither company will cover loss of glass, so i just use the cheaper one... they both break stuff. UPS more in my experience.

I definitely prefer fed-ex. In my area they have much friendlier carriers. I actually just received a dog bed from UPS and I knew it was here because I heard him throw the box down and hit my door.

the funniest thing I ever saw my UPS guy do is climb over my house fence instead of unlatching it, now the strangest part about that is my fence is about 6ft tall. He throws the box over the fence, climbs over, throws the package on front porch, tries to jump back over again, falls, and then makes it over 2nd time....now remember there's an easy latch clearly on the front of the gate.. I watched from the window and didn't quite know what to think, I wonder how he's doing in my trunk, it's been a while.....
