Baffled myself. you could start running some fresh carbon to get rid of the smell and hopefully the cloudiness.

Yead did this yesterday just to see if it would help. It seems to be getting better but the thing that gets me is its not really one of those nasty fishy type of smells its diffrent. Gonna also do a water change dont know whats in there but figured whats some salt mix and water gonna hurt so gonna get that today to might not be quite 30g but maybe a 20g bring the total this week too 50 thats half the TWV so

That's really the best route you can take at this point. Hopefully someone else can bring up some other possibilities...

Yeah, I hope you can at least get things back on track even if can't figure out the cause.
    Good luck.

What type of test kits are you using? How old are they?

if i had to guess, and it were my tank and i had this problem, and saw my tank water cloudy, i would check for ammonia and i would prolly show something...for some reason cloudy water is a pretty good indication a small cycle has happened.. im not saying all cloudy water has ammonia..but what im saying is if my water is crystal on monday and wake up tuesday and its cloudy then something got stirred up or something died and caused a little ammonia and the tank lightly cycled.. this is my guess, and inverts will be the first to die since they are soo sensitive... Just my thought..

Sounds like the possibility of a little electrolysis happened in your tank. Could be some stray low voltage where the seals have failed and exposed the wiring to salt water??

You would get the chlorine smell with a yellow hue and large amounts would definitely kill inverts first.

    Just a guess......

good guess. makes sense and covers it all really. dead inverts, the smell, the cloudy water. i have never had that happen. but have read the zapper thing thats out for aptasia cause a chlorine smell. from the small voltage. so if stray voltage happened i would think it would smell like that too

When was the last time you calibrated your refractometer? And did you use actual calibrating fluid? Reason I ask, is some refractometers are just crappy, and need to be calibrated each time you use it. I know that I had a Marine Depot brand refractometer, that would need to be calibrated every time I used it. POS got tossed out and replaced.
I know some people have great luck with that brand, but mine was garbage.
