I bought a new sump today to replace the wet/dry. Going with a refugium set up now after all the reading i had done on here. My current setup has an external pump. I am not sure if this is good or bad. I know heat wise its a better choice but i wondered what you'all though before I have the sump drilled.

Is it better to have one in the sump or external from the sump?

I use an internal pump, but would like to have an external, it's just not practical right now. I believe the more equipment you have out of the water the better. Less heat, less of a chance of electrical problems etc.
