I thought the other side of subtlety was obviousness?

I think Incognito is asking for Inwall's experience with Orange Spotted Filefish.

Yes! Share! Where did you get them from? One? More? How did you convert? How long did it take you? How long have you had them? What do they like to eat the most? The least?

Yes, trying not to hijack and get info at the same time :)

Success with these guys shouldn't be hidden in a thread somewhere.

I finally worked it out- sorry for my slowness
Incognito - you where asking questions on Coraillines thread
and thus started a new thread to prevent hijacking that thread

Inwall 75, is not on site at present I dont think

Incognito, I totally agree that if someone with experience of creatures that are in the advanced category, it would be really helpfull if they would post their experiences with said creatures

a fish of the month article by Inwall75 - would be appreciated IMO

    Steve

I didn't talk about mine for something like 6 months because of the common flaming. It was a lot worse back them. There was something like 3 people who were keeping them that were on other forums and easily accessible. We would have to exchange info via PM like they were contraband.

The fact that Diver's Den is turning them out has made them acceptable to talk about. people that wouldn't normally keep them are now trying them from there. I hope they continue to sell healthy specimens, as the last couple have looked rather thin.

I had to train mine the old fashioned way. One of mine were sick and I didn't even have anyone to ask if it was normal behaviour he was exhibiting. If I had of known otherwise, I would have treated.... but no one knew.

There is so much to learn about these guys.... so much info we need to share.

    Yes Yes and Yes.

And for the record I do not mind any exchange of information on any of my threads.

I have kept many "advanced" fish over the years. I have also trained dragonets to eat prepared foods. I get all sorts of "non-eaters" to eat. However, this one was a complete accident.

This one likely came from Sea Dwelling Creatures or Segrest Farms (possibly even Exotic Reef Imports). I'm not at the store right now to look through the invoices so I'm not sure. A shipment came in while I was out and the owners son acclimated him into the wrong system. I thought, "Crap, I'm going to have to move and acclimate him elsewhere and give him some green slimer frags". Things got insane and it didn't happen. The next time I saw him, I said the same thing to myself but I wasn't about to stay 2 hours after close to do it. So he stayed there. Saturday was crazy so I didn't get a chance again. I instructed an employee where to acclimate him on Sunday. I came back in Tuesday morning and guess what....he was still in the wrong place. When I fed that morning, he ate my food concoction which literally shocked me.....he was really hungry I guess. I didn't do anything special with this fish other than get too busy to move him for 2 days and have employees not follow my instructions for 2 more days. He eats like a pig. I have no idea why the owner put him on the order. I wouldn't have unless I had a customer who special ordered one fully knowing their care needs. However, this one even eats flake and pellet food.

If you get a fish that won't eat, I can give someone all sorts of tricks. However, with this fish, I really didn't do anything special other than feed it my normal daily concoction.
