You have to get the depressing story to understand my passion for saving other animals.

Bite-Boy would definitely bring some balance to the thread thus far.

"Basically they were giving nasty critters a suntan while they were zipped through the UV at roller-coaster speeds" that says it all right there ::)

You did what you could though idiots aside.

I was screamed at for ruining the skimmer inventory, for buying the sand, etc.

I have tons of LFS stories. Mel seems to want Bite-Boy's story. Even though it's not a proper story in the timeline, I think it would be good to off-set the original depressing story.

Yes it is. I felt like someone swung a baseball bat as hard as they could and hit me in the stomach. I put a ton of effort into saving this animal and was just about to find a proper home for it. Then it was all for nothing.

The people have spoken. Bite-boy is next.

The main problem with talking about Bite-boy is because it's not in chronological order. However, it is darn funny.

Background: Some time has gone by, I have all of the proper filtration on most of the systems, and I need some help. I hire N. (He wasn't "bite-boy" yet). His job is to come over after school and make sure the tanks are all clean. I won't buy an animal out of a dirty tank so I don't expect my customers to either.

I was smart. I said, "You are NOT to clean this tank with the lionfish. I don't want you to clean this tank with the clown trigger either, etc". I can't recall if it was his first day but I knew it was within the first week. He was up on a step stool cleaning the upper tanks and I hear a very loud scream. I go running over and there's plenty of blood. N had followed my instructions. He didn't clean the clown trigger tank. However, when he was cleaning the tank right next to it, he decided to balance himself on the step stool by putting his left hand in the tank next to the one he was cleaning. I.e. the tank that held the clown trigger. (Over the years, I've had experience with many triggers. To this day, I've never seen one as aggressive as this one. He would try and bite you through the glass and N had his fingers dangling in it's tank).

I had just gotten him somewhat trained and I was convinced his parents were going to make him quit. Basically, his parents said, "Well, that's how you learn isn't it?" LOL

At this time, the shark tank had great filtration. It was set up properly. I had a set of customers whose tanks were appropriate for sharks, so I had a number of them. I had a Port Jackson, Bamboo Cat's, Horn Shark, a baby smoothhound, etc. I taught N how to put food on the extra-long feeding prong and feed the shark tank. I don't know what happened next. Maybe the phone rang, maybe a customer came in. But I'm sure you can imagine what happened next. A loud scream rang out. Much blood again. Apparently I wasn't clear with my instructions. When you have food on the end of a feeding prong and you are target feeding sharks with your right hand, DO NOT HOLD ALL OF THE REST OF THE FOOD IN YOUR LEFT HAND THAT IS DANGLING INTO THE SHARK TANK. The smoothhound came up and bit him on accident trying to get the food. That's when he got the nickname, "Bite-boy". The shark you are looking at is not dangerous. (Heck, it was even an accident for the smoothhound). The moral of the story is that if you have poisonous fish, mantis shrimp, aggressive fish, PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE BOTH HANDS ARE!!!

Haha, that's great (not for bite-boy)! How long between bites? It sounds like only a week or so?
