Apple does generally do some work on the design after a month or so, I think (we saw this with some of the previous ipad and iphone models).

Yeah pretty much. Again minus the Siri and LTE. ( for some reason they haven't been able to crack siri yet)

I can facetime without Wifi, I can put video backgrounds on my phone, I can make the icons move differently ( like barrel away as i swipe the screen).
I can make my iphone an internet hotspot (without additional charge).
I can download any app for free
    I have video ringtones
I can make my phone look like windows vista, Android, or any other type of phone.
I can send text without even having to unlock my phone fist.

list goes on and on.. I know that as soon as iphone 5 comes out I will be waiting for the jailbreak for it.

With all these updates to the phone, one issue I am concerned with is data usage. I am currently still on the unlimited data plan with my dad and brother. Verizon somewhat recently got rid of their unlimited plans and instead now offers 'family plans' with a 2GB usage limit, which we will have to switch to when I upgrade phones. How will quicker download speeds (LTE) and facetime on LTE effect this?

Now this is what I am worried about. I'm not sure how many of you keep track of the GB you use. I know I have no idea how much I use a day, I just know I'm on my phone pretty often.
If you had a contract with Verizon which gave you unlimited Data, you basically still get unlimited Data.
Im with At&t, they also took the unlimited plan out, but whoever had it before will be able to keep it. What they started doing however, is that they slow down your connection if you go past a certain amount of GB... Which is BS if you ask me.
This saving money thing is not even correct. They QUADRUPLED their prices in Data. Basically what used to be 10 bucks is now 40. it really sucks.

I was thinking on changing to Verizon, but since that would mean giving up my unlimited plan. I think I have changed my mind.

Having a faster Connection just means you get to download faster, and do what ever you do in the internet a lot faster. ( which means you will be using your Data a lot quicker than you think).

While I do still get to keep my unlimited plan with my current phone, if I have it correct, getting a new phone would require me to go into a new contract, and not keep the unlimited data plan I have now. I will have to check, but I think that's how it works with Verizon.

Edit: Hey, you can pre-order the iphone tomorrow! :p

You should keep the unlimited data, since you had it before. make any changes to your data plan and its gone.

I don't want to change the plan if I don't have to. But I don't know if grandfathered in plans will continue if you buy new phones.

Everyone seems to talk about iPhone 5 these days like they already know what it will be. Is there a link to information, or is this still just speculation?

They released official info now. It's on the apple webpage, so we are talking facts... finally. Not that there havent' been threads like this for months speculating. (not on here, but across the nets)
