actually after going and talkin to the owner today it was not much of a discount, not even enough to cover taxes, after calling the other lfs i use he has better deals on sand at normal prices so I'm just going to buy it from him, rock is scheduled to be here Wednesday planning on tearing this down this week and rebuilding it all next weekend

actually debating on what i want to do with the tank when it's back up and running, was thinking really hard about macros and no corals higher end than a zoa/shroom or ric, figure the macros will keep any nitrates/phosphates in check, have no idea on what fish i'm going to do, was seriously debating going back to a predator setup with some dwarf lions or something

Iraf, you will have a great looking set up with the species you describe, softies etc have a lot going for them in terms of good looks and are generally less demanding and by that token less prone to disaster striking

shame about the free sand deal, but if you got value anyway, its all good.

Sorry for your troubles Iraf. You will get it back up and be happy. But what about turning around and breaking it down for a move. You have any idea how all that is going to work out?

yeah if i have to break it back down then so be it, I'll probably replumb the entire thing and change some things around, I need to figure out a way to get more water pushed through the DT, I'm pretty limited by the durso that is currently installed, the oceanic kit I bought's durso is way to small for this tank

Rock came in today so now I'm waiting on new koralias and me to get off my butt

got 2 new K4's on order, I WILL HAVE NO FREAKING SLOW FLOW ISSUES AGAIN!

I'm trying to figure out what to do about the slow overlow issues though, I want to be able to crank this mag1800 up and at the moment I can only run it about 50% throttled back with a ball valve so I've gotta get the water moving through this durso better

If you are redoing stuff, I suggest going to a Herbie overflow. Besides the other benefits, it also flows more.

plumbing the return over the back isn't an option, neither is noise, my tank is 100% silent as it is all you here is a gentle trickle of the water coming into the overflow

Herbie overflows are dead silent on both ends. That's the whole point of them... but yes, you have to plumb over the back. I just mentioned because a bulkhead can only flow so much, but those numbers don't include the air. On my setup, the actual overflow partition itself is the limiting factor. My tank will back up and overflow it. I have enough flow so didn't want to hack it up.

    So cool.

I'm going to remove the grill like area on my surface skimmer and replace it with a plastic mesh like I saw on the durso website, supposedly that will help, seems that the issue for mine is actually getting water into the overflow chamber more than it is actually getting it drained.

Anyone know the hard number that a 1" bulkhead maxes out at on flow?
