is 7 bulbs ok?

I used to have 4 t12 vho fluorescent bulb. I am switching to t5 and doing it diy, i wanted 8 bulbs but can only fit 7 bulbs. I have noticed that most people have an even number of bulbs is there a reason? Can i do 7 bulbs?

 

Sure 7 is fine, what are you trying to keep, LPS, SPS, softies, clams? What's the wattage per bulb you're planning on?

 

with good reflectors and top of the line bulbs should allow you to keep whatever you wish.

 

3, 5 and 7 are all good. but they seem a bit odd
2, 4, 6 and 8 - are also good so that evens it out

7 tubes is excellent IMHO

My tank is 120 gallon so i beleive those bulbs are 56 watt but i have two icecap ballast so i think they woulb be overdrive but not sure.

I was trying to fit as many bulb that i could in the canopy and 7 it is, i wanted to make sure 7 was ok.
