I am looking at buying a 50 gallon tru vu corner tank with a reef ready system. I had looked at the one with the aquasystem but have read that they take up too much of the swimming space and they are very hard to clean and not very good. Now I am leaning toward the reef ready system with the overflow, but do not know too much about aquariums yet. Is this a good system to get? Can anybody explain to me what I would need if i did get this style of aquarium What is the difference between the two?

What does "reef ready" mean? Does that mean it comes with the right filters/equipment or something?

You gotta link to the site? Drilled aquariums have the potential to be far less hasle than aquariums with Hang On Back overflow boxes. I have had nothing but good come from my HOB overflow except it kind of looks a bit tacky hanging in there...but that's it. If you have algae problems, stick a snail in there and be done with it. You can't do that with a drilled tank overflow.

We need a link and we'll let you know how it is.

Reef ready usually means pre-drilled and/or comes drilled with an overflow.

I am just getting started. I like that corner style tank that truvu aquariums offers because it fits perfect in my condo living room. The only thing is that I was looking at the aquasystem uniquarium style first but was told it was no good. The lady told me then I would have to go with the reef ready with the overflow system. Now all this doesnt make much sense to me. I dont know if I could just buy the tank and then go to my local fist store and buy everything I need or should I buy that the "reef ready" system, and if I do what else would i need to get it up and running

It just means it has an over flow and is predrilled. I hate how the ad says for get skimmer cups, almost like you don't need a skimmer. With this system you will need to run a sump/fuge which is good. You will need other items like pump and skimmer. It looks like you have to do alot of research, but you made the frist good step in joining a good forum. If you search the topics you will see what you need to do. Good luck and reef on.

Would that tank be good for just a fish only tank with a little bit of coral? Based on the information from that website I would need a pump and skimmer and thats it or what else would i need?
