Would it kill all the copepods coming from my refuge? I was thinking of one myself.

i would think its not good for them, it probably wont kill them out right though.

i would assume it destroys there eyes if they have eyes. it also corrupts there dna so enough trips through might cause your population to be weakened i would assume.

You would have to assume that parasites and other disease causing agents are always free floating. In reality only certain ones do this at a specific life stages. Even then there is no gaurantee that it will destroy the pathogen at a single exposure or before it moves to the next stage in its cycle.

There have been no experiments done that have proven the effectiveness of UV filters in reef tanks. They do however control free floating algae and bacteria to some extent.

that is all true but uv sterilizer have been used to kill parasites in human drinking water, i would assume there has been numerous studies for this to be used. to assume it has no effect on the parasites in the reef tank is wrong. uv exposer will destroys many pathogens ability to reproduce if they are not killed on the pass through. and nobody is suggesting that every disease causing agent is free floating all the time.

I had my own experiment. Massive fish loss to parasites. Since the UV no more fish loss. Thats enough info for me.
