Is Carbon Really Nessecary

    Can anyone recommend a good brand of carbon? I had used carbon when I first started up my tank, but later found out that I somehow had "freshwater only" carbon and haven't used any since.

    I also use carbon and I agree with both CR and RS. I dont know if theres a way to "overdose" on carbon. As for when to change it, that really depends on your bio-load. For ex. I have alot of corals and fish, my carbon container says to change it every 4-6 months for normal conditions. I change mine every two months or so. Carbon is also used when your using ozone.
