I was wonderin if it is necessary that chaeto tumbles in a fuge. I just set up my fuge and got it running today. I got good slow flow through it but is it do I have to put a powerhead or something to make the chaeto and gracilaria tumble or will it be fine jus sittin there with the light at night and whatever little flow is through the fuge tank ?

Nope. Mine sits there. I used to turn it until it got too big. I don't want to touch it anymore since it is full of bristle worms that pack a nasty sting. It's probably time to thin it out.

mine just has flow going through it from one side of tank to the other.. I keep it as thick as the width.. it does great.. oh I think why it does great is because I cut the top growth off when Im trimming back so the next layer down grows..

My flow is the same, from one end to the other and I plan on trimming it the same way. What would you say is your growth rate from a fist size ball?

I also read somewhere that you ate some once lol. The tangs seem to like it, it cant be that baad. jkin

I when I first added it from reefcleaners it was about 3 inches in diameter, it grew to about 8 inches in diameter in 2-3 weeks.. it has kept the same growth rate from there.. so I trim weekly.. I swear I should sell the stuff mine grows so fast..

and yes I did eat the cheato.. hahaha

ive noticed that mine grows denser rather than outward if i pull it and spread it out it will stay as big as i stretch but thicken back up

Mine sits there and I rotate myself periodically. No tumbling. It grows fine.

I think bama just trims it back and chomps on it :D
