Is it ok to keep the skimmer off for 1 or 2 days

    that tank i currently have had no skimmer for 4 yrs!!!. 125 gallon show tank. but from the algae growth, one could tell!
    i just installed a skimmer 3 days ago and it is already skimming,

    not very much, i think because there's really not much for it to skimm because theres only 2 fish, and the skimmer is really overrated. the water in the cup is usually a very small amount and tea colored. But the cylinder part is always this like pitch black really gross smelling skimmate

    i got my skimmer about a month or two ago now, and started skimming right away as well, but the skimmate wasn't like everybody elses

    i have a AquaC remora protein skimmer and mine did the same thing, but i think over time it should die down IMO

    i know the breakin period is supposed to be bad, but i've had this way to long to be going through the breakin period.

    Just an idea I'm not real familiar with hob skimmers, but could that kinked air line in the first pic be forcing air back out of your discharge?

    not sure as i don't know much about skimmers along with my own, but it just kind of kinks like that and the light does rest against it slightly and theres nothing that i can do about the light.

    Do you think it's not supposed to be like that and could that be why i'm having the bubble issues?

    Not real sure, was just something that stood out to me. I know if I kink mine off my skimmer will react differently though.
