Is it possible to overskim?

    I don't have any pictures of the whole set up but The skimmer was twice as tall as the tank.

    So 2 X tank volume isn't over skimming? If I will have about 150g, and the ev-240 is good up to 240g, I'd be ok? Or would I be better served with an ev-120? slightly under powered?

    to 240 is fine you want your skimmer to do more then your tank size, just not be a colossal difference like how my 125 was 10x the tank size.

    Go with the ev-240 it will help with any mistakes. Plus it will allow you to expand some should you wish.
