Is it really possible to move an established tank?

NOPE, never had an issue with it. just drained it down and tossed it in the pickup. sandbed was only 2" anyways.

now when I got the 180, i didnt use any of the previous person's sand. just really didnt have a good way to transport it and got a good deal on some sand from another reefer. he took down his 220 and had put all his old sand including a dsb in the garage. he washed it and killed all the goodies in it. I took it (smelled like a dead whale) and washed the tar out of it one small colander at a time. took about 6 hours total. my fingers were raw from that but we put it in and it did very well. got it a bit deep but oh well. I even have it in my CA reactor and it is doing quite well.

Unless you want to go totally new I would check out craigslist for tank and equipment. That way you can save money for a new bigger tank once you get established. I know. My first tank was a 125 and a year to the date I purchased a 225 and already got plans on upgrading to a 300 next year.

I'm definately still a newb and now I know a lot thanks to the people that hang out here. You have found the right place, that's for sure. Make sure you take pictures and share when you do get your fish tank started.

So I ended up buying the tank in my op for $1500. Picking it up next weekend. Any thoughts on that deal would be appreciated. I have some reefers helping me get the tank next weekend who will most likely take the fish and corals. I will be taking the LR and setting up a FOWLR tank. I'm psyched.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Congradulations!

A lot of plastic container bins.

As much SW as you can make up fresh.

Bottle of ammonia lock or equiv, perhaps some microbacter7.

Good luck on the move. :)
