I have approx. 70 filter socks that came with the used 180 system I bought. The previous owner said he always used a laundromat. Which I really hate to do. So I'm thinking of trying to run them through my washer here at home

I tie mine to a line, and drag it behind my sailboat.
Then I use my leaf blower to dry them.
Then I tien them to my trucks antenna, and drive around for a few hours.

    NO, not really.

I do turn them inside out and soak them in a bucket with about 1g of tap water and a 1/2ish cup of bleach.
    Then rinse in tap water.
    Then let them dry overnight.
Then use them If I'm running a sock/bag that day or not.

I also have 2 or 3 of the big filter bags, and 2 or 3 of the socks.

1 fish, 2 fish, Red fish, Blue fish.

    I need a beer

I soak mine in a bucket of water and bleach. I leave them there for about 3 days. After that I wash them thoroughly with tap water. I let them dry in a pile till I'm ready to do a wash in the washer. I wash them without any sort of detergent on cold. I figure the bleach already did the work for me so there is no need to add anything to the water. The cold water wash is to ensure the bleach has been completely rinsed out. Also I wash with 2 rinse cycles to further reduce the chance that any bleach remains.

I don't have a sock, but I do use media bags. Those I wash with a load of laundry with detergent, and I've never had a problem. I use the double-rinse cycle, then they get rinsed again manually before use.

I have 3 that I cycle- only use one at a time.

I used to soak them in RO/DI with bleach then rinse. I just recently moved to washing them on delicate with bleach then air dry. It works very well.
