Anyone who has been keeping up with my nitrate problems will understand my concern.

I need to clean my skimmer this weekend, it's due time, my concern is that it takes a few days for the aqua c remora to start skimming again. With the current problems I have been having will it be okay for me to clean it? I don't want my tank to go downhill from lack of filteration? Any imput will help.

You will be fine! Alot of the particulate matter will be consumed by bacteria, polychaetes, sponges, worms and microscopic crustaceans in your sand and live rock!
A water changes should also help! Be careful with over feeding...and maybe use some carbon as well

If it's just off for a day or so you should be ok.

You can always put an air-stone in the tank to help with pH during that time.

You shouldn't have a problem. My skimmer got unplugged for a week one time(I still don't know how) and didn't have a problem.

My remora's always start skimming right of the bat when I clean them. In fact they skim much better with a good cleaning. I hose mine out and then let it soak in vinegar and water. What are you cleaning yours with?

    Yes, no problem.
Just make sure you have a power head disturbing the water's surface for the gas exchange.
