Is it the blue or white lights that tend to bleach corals

This may be a silly question. But I have the dimmable taotronic 120w leds and I noticed on of my corals is turning very pale, yet it is growing like crazy..2/12 times the size in a month an a half. I had the blues on 100% and the whiles at 55%. Just wondering if turning either one down would help or if I should turn both down. I would move the coral, but it has attached to the rock in several places now. They are some sort of paly (got them from a fellow reefer).

That's a bad pic from when I first got them. I can try to take another pic when I get home. They are about half way up the tank. The tank is a 125.

you are bleaching the coral from 2 much light! turn the light intensity down! turn blue down to like 60% and white to like 50%.

did you aclimate the tank to the new lights? starting at low and slowly turning up each week? from what ive read most people only run both at no more then 60%

I started at 60% blue and 40% white and turned up a little each week. I've had them on the tank for about 3 months. I assumed I would eventually want the lights (at least the blues) close to 100% to get the full power of the light no? I am definitely new to this and figured the more powerful the blue, the better the colors would eventually be. The tank looks amazing under just the blues, but the colors don't show up as well on some corals with both white and blue on.

well i would have said start at like 20% and go up 10% each week. stop the whites at around 50% and maybe go up to like 60-70% with the blues. idk tho i have not got mine yet. tons others have these so they can tell you. but it deff sounds like you are bleaching the coral from 2 intense of lighting.

Light related bleaching is probably the result of changes in light. Corals are know to adapt more readily to dim light. However, long term, once acclimated, they may still prefer more light.
