I have a question, I have a light fixture i am not using that i had for my 29 gallon that I would like to put on my refugium to light my chaeto.

Im just wondering if it might be too much light?
Aquarium Lighting T5 Fluorescent Light Fixture: AquaticLife T5 HO and Lunar Light Fixtures this is the light fixture i have, its the 36 inch i believe. it would be on top of a 55G. ( the refugium is probably 1/4 the lenght of the 55 and its probably a bit less than half way full)

also, can Uv light affect the growth of chaeto?

what size is the light? there are many options for that link! But seems like overkill to me! i'd sell that light to buy some new corals and go to lowes and buy a cheap circular hood and 6700k lightbulb! prob $20 tops!

yeah, I do run it at night already ;). Im actually running a smaller light ATM. I was just wondering if I could use that instead since it has a timer and everything.

why not if you want to! its not gonna kill chaeto! just saying for $20 bucks you'd have plenty of light and could sell that to buy more goodies! either way you win!

ah ok, cool. I was just worried it might be too much light and might make it grow slower or something.

what about UV light? say the chaeto is exposed to it, would it kill it?

Just get 6500K bulbs. It won't help but it won't hurt either.
