Reef Octopus BH-100F Hang on Protein Skimmer

Does anyone have experience with this skimmer and how well it works?

Great sale price very tempted to buy my first protein skimmer! Any thoughts? It would be for a 46gallon would this skimmer be overkill I remember reading articles saying not to go too large otherwise they will not perform efficiently enough to make a big difference.

But if its used it might not have all the original parts and work as good as if it was newly set up right?

open box means, someone ordered it, opened it, then shipped it back. They wouldnt sell it if it was missing stuff or didnt work properly.

It should work just fine. If it was missing parts i dont think they would be selling it. I would go for it, that is a great price, and a great skimmer. I had the bh-1000 and loved it.

    THe open box policy states

All "open box" items have been tested for functionality and in most cases contatin all accessories that come with the item. The entire risk of these items are with the buyer and we cannot provide replacements due to limited quantity. Should the item exhibit any type of defect following their purchase, the buyer(not the manufacturer, distributor or SaltySupply.com) is responsible for entire cost of all necessary servicing or repairs

While I know Reef Octopus's products are of good quality I have never used this particular skimmer. While it does state all necesary parts are included I don't believe there are any accesories that come with it that are not required for it to function properly. It is always risky buying open box items especially when you cannot inspect them in person.Salty supply is a sponsor here so I would hope they would not want any unhappy customers. If it were me I would contact them and ask exactly what is included and what is missing but for that price it seems like a steal to me.;)

They said it was used on a demo tank for a few days so they marked it at half price does this sound right? I dont have much experience but it makes sense to me.
