Is it worth the upgrade?

I currently have these over my 55gal (36"x18"x21")

Current USA Sundial T5HO 30" 4x24w
TopDawg Pet Supply 30 Sundial 4x24w T5ho with 2 Lunar Lights & Timers

I am trying to decide if it is worth upgrading to this set.
AquaticLife 36" T5 HO 4 Lamp Fixture with Lunar Lights
Would these allow me to have some SPS and perhaps even some LPS mid tank?




These are some images of the current 30" light I have installed.
The light spread seems to be ok.

The Aquaticlife will be better simply because it is higher wattage T5s. 39w > 24w.

The Current Nova Extreme is the lower end line of their "Nova Extreme Pros."

You will do OK with 96w over the 55g. But 156w would be even better. What corals do you plan to keep? If you don't want corals, then I wouldn't bother upgrading lighting.

Zoo's
Buttons.

My current light is 2x actinic and 2X10k, and I just don't feel I get the color I should.

I would also like some LPS in the future.

 

I think you would be fine for LPS with your current lights if you replace the bulbs with some better bulbs, ATI, UVL, Giesemann for example. However if you plan on a clam or SPS I think you may want to upgrade.

 

If you upgrade you will most likely want to keep the LPS on or near the bottom IME. SPS and clams will be no problem. Just change out the stock bulbs in 3 months with top of the line bulbs.

 

So with new bulbs currently I can keep SPS? Would you do 3 blue and 1 10k ?

Would the SPS have to be top tank ?

 

id say either upgrade to metal halide and supplement with actinics, or make sure ur T5 is worth the money for the upgrade. You could always put ur fixture up for sale and once it sells have the buyer wait till your new fixture comes in?

3x actinic
1x 10k
It is still really white, any other config suggestions?
