I just got this green bubble tip anemone 2 days ago and it hasn't looked all that great... I drip acclimated him and i bought it with two clowns that were hosting it. All of my water parameters are good. yesterday it started to have its mouth open and once i did a water change and turn up the flow from my mp40 it started to look a little better. (mouth more closed and tentacles a a little fuller)

And now this morning this is what it looks like!? Is it dieing??? what should i do please help!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks bad but I would wait to remove it until you string like structures (mesenterial filaments) protruding from the oral opening, I would also test for ammonia, if you have a detectable level I would remove the Anemone, as that is a sign of decay.

Not uncommon for them to show an exaggerated oral opening while acclimating, but your Anemone looks worse than I have personally seen.

    Good luck to you.

    Welcome to 3reef.

Just leave it as it is and don't over handle it. Also ya, wat kinda light u have ? I usually don't remove them till I see decay. I kno it's bad and risky for other live stock but I had manage resurrect rbta from worse shape than it's and I usually don't give up

i have it under leds, a diy kit from rapid led... the tank it was in had leds. but it didn't look great then either, they said they just got it and they gave it to me really cheap, so i thought id give it a shot...

I have a sebae anemone in the same tank and its doing good....

Here are a few more pictures, i went home at lunch to check on it after the lights were on for an hour or so.. i also turned up the flow on my mp40.

Thanks everyone for any help, anemones are so confusing lol

it's hard to say how healthy the nem was from the start, they usually die a slow death and you won't know anything is wrong until it's too late (for the most part). I wouldn't turn your flow up too much, my BTA's never liked a lot, but more a balmy flow.

The best you can do is keep an eye on it and see how things develop. I've seen BTA's that look much worse, bounce back but it's just a waiting game.

IME with 5 different BTA's, a happy BTA stays in one place, fully extends its tentacles under the lights, doesn't stretch its foot up (unless it's light starved). I have my current GBTA under a single Radion LED and it does well.

an anemone can take up to two weeks to get comfortable. Anemones will morph many times as it gets settled.

If it's not moving you are in good shape

How old and stable is your display? Anemones can be very sensitive and most will recommend at least a 6 month old tank that is well seasoned and stable.

I have kept a Sebae anemone in my nano for 22 years but the tank was already a few years old when I added it. Back then the lighting was only 4x18" 15w normal output fluorescents, 2 VitaLites and 2 Actinic 03's and it was happy even then.

Yes it doesn't look very promising. You can use airline tubing to siphon off the dying/necrotic tissue and then you may want to give the anemone a dip in an Iodine solution like Pro Coral cure to help prevent the spread of the RTN.

The tank is only about 3 months old.. i know a lil young for anemone... 90 gallon tank with a 55 gallon sump... 100 lbs live rock reef octopus NWB-150 6in skimmer

I turned the leds directly over top of it down to only 2 hours to let it get used to lighting.. lucky my leds are in 3 "sections" (Left, Center, Right)

This is what it looks like today?? it moved a tiny bit and so of the tenticles are REALLY short looking.

BTW.. Thanks everyone for the help!
