Yes, that is a lot of fish for a 25g SW tank. That would be maybe a max stock for a 55g tank. Most would say that 3 fish, maybe 4 small at most.

Stocking has a lot to do with what type of filtration you have (how much live rock, skimmer, etc) & how much maintenence you do (water changes). Some can support an overstocked tank with a really good skimmer, lots of rock, and good husbandry, but it's more work.

Having that many fish in that small of a tank means you're going to have to feed more to keep all healthy, water quality will go down quicker with more fish waste, and territory is scarce so lots of fighting.

IMO I woulld thin it out to 3-4 fish unless you have a monster skimmer/filtration, tons of live rock, your water is in pristine shape, & all fish are getting along.

for your size tank it says about 6.4" of fish so i would say yes it is overloaded, keep up on your water changes and filter cleaning.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Without a doubt, it maybe work out for some time, but I think you will run into issues with bullying and disease.

    does seem overstocked to me

although the choice of fish is not a bad one IMO , you have a selection of fish that are both hardy and capable of looking after themselves ( bullying in confined spaces is often one drawback of overstocking)

Oxygen will be another concern, if the water temperature increases the oxygen content depletes and you may have issues with that

Thanks forum for the feed back and yes the bullying has begun and the peppermint shrimp has caused one casualty already Three Spot Domino rip....LOL

I have about 30 pounds of rocks with plenty of hiding places and water maintenance is constant since I was grandfathered into the hobby thanks to my daughter. The system consist of a Eclipse hood w/bio wheel which is not great as I have learned.

    Again Thanks 2 all

Inches per gallon is way outdated, and no longer used with the efficiency todays filters and carbons.

I would have to say that you have plenty of rock and your filtration is OK as long as you replace the filter pad often. I would also consider running a small bag of carbon under the filter pad, changing that once every couple of weeks.

I have the same filter on my wifes 12 gallon Eclipse and thats what we do. I run a Bio wheel and have for 3 years now and have never had a single problem, although I do scrub it with scrub brush when ever I replace the filter pad.

Basically you do have a tank full of Damsels and will most likely end up with bullying problems since all the fish in there including the Clowns and Chromis are all part of the Damsel family .

On top of that the tomato clowns are at the top of the spectrum are far as meanness goes. So I agree you might want to find another home for the Damsels or the clowns depending on which ones you like the most.

I kind of find it hard to belive that your pepermint shrimp killed a fish, if it did it would be a first for me. Its more likley that it died and the shrimp was eating the body which is what they do and why the are part of a good CUC.

Agreeing with everyone else,it is a nice selection of fish,i've ran into territorial problems in such a small tank, especially with damsels(very cool fish,if they have thier own spot in the tank)but when crowded they can become very aggresive, your clowns and chromis are members of the damsel family as well,so they can just as easily become aggresive too.And like the others mentioned, consistant water quaility will be hard to maintain. It could be done with a really good skimmer and alot of husbandry, but then you'll still be facing territory issues.
