    Acclimation is important and it's not that you added a cup of water.
    You should have done it a couple of times.

    When I used to do it the way you did I would add about a half cup of water wait 10-15 min then dump about a third of the total water out and add another 1/2 cup and do this 2-3 times, but the drip method is better.

    It is that crucial. You can kill healthy fish with improper acclimation to your tank. Even more so for inverts.

    If you try the acclimation process suggested, you should be ok with a smaller fish. Clowns tend to be less aggressive when smaller...if you get a large one, it could be a female and they can become quite aggressive to tank mates.

    thanks guys i will try it next time. I really think it was the stress of the move i hope i have better luck next time.... as i said my other fish are thriving

    I'm new to this hobby as well. what I understood from all these very knowledgable people on this forum is that when acclimating, you basically want to have your tank water parameters in that container or bag in the end. I think of it just like when you're taking a nice hot shower and then the water turns ice cold. Some people can get a heart attack from that shock.
