is my dosing correct?

    Hey fellow reefers my Alk is at 2.5 meq/l. Ca 440. and Mg 1230. my tank is 120g and a 30g sump but my true water volume is 100 g. i use ESV 2 part dose and reefpure from WM MG

    the problem is im using ESV 2 part dose and i want to raise alk to 4.0 meq/l. and im dosing 30 ml every morning. IS 30ML alot of doses to raise my alk to where i want it in a weeks time? here i barely started to right down my numbers as of yesterday but here they are

    this is what i dosed, 7am dosed 30ml, 10 pm dosed another 30ml of esv alk buff part 1 and 20 ml of part 2

    7/24/11
    alk 2.16 meq/l
    Ca 410
    MG 1230

    tested before i dosed

    7/25/11
    alk 2.50 meq/l
    Ca 440
    Mg 1230
    Ph 8.3

    i just dosed WM reefpure MG 60ML
    and 30ml of ESV part 1 alk

    i forgot to mention i have 2 4' clams and majority of Lps and some SPS frags

    The numbers seem low for a 135 gallon tank. I dose about 800ml a day of sodium bicarbonate on my 75. That would be about 400ml of sodium carbonate. You need to read the dosing instructions on the bottle. It should tell you how much the recommended dosage will raise the alkalinity in X amount of water. You will then need to divide the X amount of water into your systemn volume and multiply it times the recommended dosage to get the same increase in your tank.

    You can also use the calculators link on the right side navigation column choosing the additive calculator as it has ESV 2 part in its additive list.

    Personally I don't believe you should use the dosser to raise any levels in your system. The idea is to maintain the levels you want. I would use the Calculators found HERE to raise your levels manually. Then once you have the system at the levels you like. It will be much easier to figure out how to adjust your dossing.
