By dirty, do you mean lightly salt covered with heavy condensation?

I msut be lucky because I have my aquarium with no sump no fuge no skimmer. Just a HOB filter and PH for movement and I never have issues with my glass top causing O2 distress. I do have a low pH of 7.8-8.0 that never seems to raise but I left off the lid for a few days to test if it was a gas exchange issue and the pH never went up.

Condensation didn't seem to matter. Salt mattered, but less than I would have expected.

by the way, it may also depend some on the light. I could imagine a point source light, would be more effected than a more diffuse light such as a fluorescent. The tank I had been testing had T-5s. Although, on that note, I had halides over a glass top once and the heat shattered it. Luckily I was there watching and the peices didn't hurt anything, but that was lucky, it could have been bad...

i have a lot of BRS 1/4 inch clear screen i could give you, and then all yould have to do is make a frame for it like yould make for a window or sliding glass door screen and yould have all the gas exchange yould need, plus your fish cant jump out.

The one downside to bowfronts, it would be very tricky to make a frame for it although it is possible

What if you cut screen to fit about 1.5 inches past the tank top and evenly string weights around the screens edge to hold it in place?

Really? That would be incredible. I went by Wal-mart a few weeks ago to buy a frame and clear screening, but all they had was black.
