i have the aqueon 20" led hood on my 10 gallon tank. it currently has 1 strip with 9 leds in it that are 2 watts each. is this good enough for those corals? i mainly just want a hammer or a toadstool leather. the hood can hold up to 3 strips. ive tried many different lightings but have never actually tested them bc i kept researching and finding out they werent good enough. so from yalls perpective are these lightings good: 2 25" t-8 bulbs at 17 watts each (one is 10000K and the other is 6500K), led strip above, and 2 12" t-5 (one 10000K daylight and one 10000K actinic)?

    welcome to 3reef

you have more then enough light to grow a hammer and a stool. i even think its a light bit of a overkill for your 10gal

The output is more than enough, just Ifeel the color temp is a bit too warm. At least for myself. With the 6500k and 10000k mix, it might end up somewhere between 8500K.

PS: how come the actinic is also 10000k?;D

Lol I don't have all of those lightings. Haha I've had one of each. Right now I only have a strip with 9 LEDs of 2 watts each. Idk really how the actinic is 10000k it was a small t5 ho bulb. But is just the 9 LEDs 2 wats each enough? Or can I have just 2 24" t8's? I was told that t8's can't grow anything... Is that true?

I will bet money your corals will look super bad under those leds, IMO go with something that uses...
Either NW or CW leds (Hopefully NW)
3 watt Cree or ES leds or at least a 3 watt led
A small DIY fixture of 6-12 leds would work well, Rapidled is a great place to start.
I'm pretty sure the difference between PC, T8, and T5 is the bulb size and color options. and 12 leds could grow sps.

As I mentioned before, you can grow coral just their color would of been very brown due to the warm color temp. Most ppl will get at least 14000K so their coral will be a lot better in coloration
