I have a 29 gallon fowlr tank and I just bought a Koralia Evolution Water Pump 1050gph for 15$ on craigslist. I went to my lfs and asked if it s too powerful and they said yes. I wanted your opinions about it. Is there any way I can reduce the flow?

1050gph is 36x turnover (52x turnover at most if you have a LOT of rock). That's enough flow for a FOWLR, but it's not too much. If you decide to convert it into a reef tank, that should be good for soft coral and you could even add more flow if you wanted (for LPS/SPS corals).

Thanks! Would you recommend pointing it at the corner of the tank or away from the center of the tank? I am planning on having two clownfish. would that be too much for them?

No it's not too much for the fish. I would center it on the side glass and point the flow up a little to get the surface water moving.

Ok thanks! I put it like that and it now looks like the water is going in a complete circle!

That's why ideally you would have another powerhead in the tank to change the flow pattern. But I think two of the 1050's would be way too much for a 29  You may need to aim it mostly at rocks so the flow spreads out so to speak.

Right, random flow is best. This ensures debris (ie fish poo, detritus, leftover food) is suspended in the water column to be taken out by filtration and does not settle on rocks/sand.
