Is my protein skimmer working right?

    I have had the skimmer for about 6 to 7 months. so does it still have to brake in?

    Just depends i guess. Mine took forever to start making good dark skimmate.

    No. I explained already. Adjust the water level to just to the bottom of the cup. It doesn't matter if it is a filter skimmer combo.

    If it wasn't used it has to break in and re-slime up. Also, push the bubbles down and it will slowly fill up. If it's clear, you might not have a bunch of gunk in the water. My collection cup is emptied about once a week, but I have a relatively small bioload. Hope that helps.
