Hey guys, I recently purchased a rose bubble tip anemone and I have many corals different soft corals including two gorgonians sea fans that are doing great.. My tank is 75 gallons with for small sized fish and has been running for about 3 months.. Parameters are all perfect, as soon as I did a water change my anemone got affected but brought water to balance again.. The anemone is only about 2 inches in diameter.. let me know if it’s a feeding issue or its just dying slowly.. Here are some pics!

Looks fine to me. Anemones do a lot of fluid exchange, inflate, deflate, change shapes. It's a little nerve racking initially but you get used to it.

You will know your BTA is in trouble if it begins to float around, the oral opening is gaping or you see mesenterial filaments protruding from the oral opening or the body.

    Very pretty BTA BTW.

Thank you for the reply.. I have hade bubble tip anemones in the past but its been a long while.. The inner part looks more open and flat from when I bought it, the tenticals have also shortened allot as well and just two days ago when the light s shutt off the mouth poped out like if it wanted to invert itself.. is this normal due to the fluid exchanges etc?

When acclimating some BTA do display an oral gaping as do some carpets. BTA are so hardy IME and usually show some real distress prior to kicking the bucket.

As long as your parameters are in line I would just give it more time.

SOunds good to me.. I was actually going to remove it and take back to the lfs or to a buddys tank but considering I spent 70$ for it i prefer to give it a try. Just was a bit scared it will die in there and shock my whole system.. Thanks again for the the much needed advice.

Anyone else have any opinions on why my bta's tenticals are getting shorter and the coloration looks seethrough and less clear around its whole body??

What kind of lights are you running? How old is your tank?...these are factors that could determine the health of a BTA...from the pics i see no coralline growth..which tells me its a young tank...and probably not ready to sustain an anem

    Hey there Sauce-N-Tank,

Great looking BTA there. I got one myself and love it. My clowns finally hosted last week after having it for a month. I was worried just like you, but soon read up that how they acclimate themselves to your systems. Like Corailline said, it's just part of their fluid exchange and what not. Afterwards, it'll bubble up more than ever. Well at least mine does.

Give us more info for others to help. Good luck!

All the above. Anemones can do lots of strange looking things and be perfectly healthy!

Beautiful RBTA. Good luck with it!

ETA - color loss is usually sign of not enough light or the tank not being mature enough yet. 3 months is pretty young.

    What lights are you running?
