Hi all I have a yellow sabe ananome for several weeks
for the last week it looked like it was turning insideout and than it was opening again. This morning I saw it turn insideout again preaty bad and its like that for a whole day. Is it dieing should I take it out from the tank? There are very small particles of it flying away when I thouched it?

Not sebae experience - but I have dying anemone experience and that sounds like it's on that way out. I've had two turn inside out on me and they both died.

Sebae's are one of the harder ones to keep too.

    Sorry to hear that.

well, my friend, i hate to say this but, more than likely it is dieing, and not totally your fault, it is more the fault of the place that you purchased it from, a yellow sebae ( Heteractis crispa ) is not a natural color, these anemones are more to the brown side, might look like a golden brown at times, chances are that this anemone lost its zooxanthellae while in shipping from the ocean and it was dyed so it could be sold to the consumer, they are also sold when still "bleached"(loss of zooxanthellae) and these are white
so because the anemones are bleached/dyed they dont do well in our mini oceans, not to say they will all die, just in general, and IMO these anemones should not be purchased until the people find a better means to ship them so the anemones dont lose their zooxanthellae

if you must have a anemone try a BTA bubble tip anemone, much easier to take care of and hardy

I have to disagree. Yellow and white sebea is a natural form, I see hundreds of these. My boss has collected, shipped and seen thousands. True, some that people purchase are either dyed or lacking zooanthella, but to say all is just out right wrong.

I do agree your sebea sounds like its kicked the bucket unfortunatly.

First I sold the anemone and it was not dyed. Secondly are you sure its completely inside out because when we talked in the store you said it was inside out and expelling stuff, so I said to watch it as it may be pooping but if it is disolving and not pooping it maybe on its way out. How was it eating, did it move around before this is happening, is there something harrasing it, what are your water parms and didn't you just change bulbs in your halides?

well, i knew you 2 would respond to my post ;)
and i wasnt trying to offend you, and i didnt state my opinion, that is a fact, now it is true that there might be a few that are white, but, those few that are, are few and far between, i almost purchased one of these anemones (my wife wanted one), but, after doing the PROPER research and reading a lot of Dr. Ron's and Calfo's articles i found that a very high percentage of these anemones are infact dyed or bleached, if it is a sebea anemone (Heteractis crispa)
this is not something that happens at the LFS, it happens before the LFS gets the anemone

yellow is in no way the color of the sebea's, this is dyed

here is a Quote from Dr. Ron
and here are a few links for you guys and others ;)
this link has a sebae that is dyed in the top right
The Tragedy of Artificially Colored Live Corals

and here is a quote from the above article

ok, o forgot the other links ;)

PS, i am more than happy to find more links to justify my post, but i dont think it is called for
