My sea urchin seems to have gone to a spot and stopped moving for like 2 days and now his spines are falling off. I had to do some work to get to him to remove him, as I thought he must be dead, and in the process, he starts moving. Well I get him out of the spot he was in and he moves a little more, but a bunch of his spines fell off in the process. He's now in a quarantine tank, but not moving at all. Is the bit of movement I saw some kind of a reflex or something, or is he just on his way out but not all the way gone, or is something else going on? Anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds like he's on the way out. Be sure to get him out quick if he does die. He'll polute the system pretty bad if he starts to decompose...

Sorry to say, if the spines are falling off, he's on the way. Mine had about 2 days left after I noticed the spines falling off. Mmakay is right, get him out before he stinks up the water.
