Hi! I have red and purple shrooms and they are positioned in different places in my tank. The reds look great, but the purple look like crap. They don't get bigger than a quarter and most of the time, a nickel. Why does the purple seem so poorly? I have seen them big so I know something is up. The tank is a 20L with T5 lights. 4X24w. Thanks.

What else is in the tank? If you have a lot softies you may need a dab of Iodine. If you dose Iodine you must test though.

can you please list them, if they are fine, the shrooms should be fine, so your answer is way too vague. If you're seeking help on the forum, you have to be more specific for us to give you better help.

how is the flow in the two different spots? When i increased the flow, my mushrooms didn't like it and stayed a little shriveled. little by little, they have become accustomed although they still don't open quite like they once did.

Could also be too much light, lower light levels should cause them to open larger to gather more.

The positioning of your red mushroom may be more favorable for it. Often times all that is required is the repositioning of the purple mushroom to another location. This process may require multiple location changes to find the most favorable location.
Other factors can play out as well such as lighting, wate flow, neighboring corals, predators and health of the coral when it was bought.

MoJoe, this is not my first day or first tank. I know if my params are good. However for you, they are:
    PH-8.2
    phos-0
    nitrate-0
    KH-9
    cal.-440
    nitrite-0
    am-0
    Hope this helps you.

To others: One side of the tank, where some are, is not as light as the other because thats where the ballast of the light is. The other side is pretty light. THe flow is the same on boths sides.

I only have several zoa frags, a 2 head Duncan, 2head frogspawn, a goni frag, about 8-9 shrooms, 3 small of colonies of palys. The rocks look kinda empty.
