Is T-5 lighting strong enough for a future anenome?

    I have 2 entacmaea's under a 70W 10000K HQI and 48W of T5 actinics (420 and 460). There is a such thing as too much light as well. More is not always better. If your lighting is too strong, the anemone will spit out its zooxanthellae and bleach out. It happened to me when my first nem was too close to the top of the water. It took 2 months to start regaining its color after I moved it down. For some reason, it's too stupid to move on its own. The second nem hides under the rock and gets the light it needs, no more no less.

    Most anemones can handle more PAR than SPS, plus they can move...

    Tigermike, yours might be a fluke, or its slightly retarded.

    Yeah it is retarded, it has begun moving again last night. It looks like it is on a crash course with the another anemone. Since they are the same genous, I was told the chance of sting warfare is slim. I guess time will tell. I would assume it's true, since my maroons hosted to it within seconds on being introduced into the tank. The fish didn't look to be stung at all.

    I've kept rose bta's under T5's for a couple of years with great success and they have great coloration, just make sure your changing your bulbs every 6-9 months
