    So is mine.

Will it grow on my heater?

Yes there is green coralline. Mine can be very dark green, or neon green depending on the area of the tank and depth. I thought it was regular algae at first, but it grows in the same patterns as corraline and is dang near impossible to scrape off plastic, and I have to use a credit card on the front of the tank. Very hard and crusty.

There is also red / maroon coralline.

My 55 started out with the purple stuff but after I put up my metal halide and a few months with no extra growth, the dark green stuff started tanking over. Its really ugly and I hate it but some people like the stuff. I would probably dig it if it was neon or light green but unfortunately I got the dark dark stuff and it covered a good portion of my back glass but now its mostly gone off of my live rock leaving my rock with whatever purple is left and the green on the glass is partially white. I'm starting to see some red or more like rust lookin stuff starting to come over some of the purple. Very little but im hoping it will take over the green. Coralline does come in all sorts of color and often its depends on lighting and whats been introduced to your tank.

Yep. I have tons of green coraline. Now psiclone does too from my frags ;)
Both neon green and drab dark green. I personally am not a fan of the dark green. Looks just like algae on the glass but is 10X harder to scrape off ;) I wish I could rid my tanks of coraline all together personally. I get tired of dealing with it.

I wish coralline was easier to photograph and identify for noobs. It seems to come in so many varieties... I wish I could identify it better because i had been trying to not disturb and encouraging the growth of my 'coralline' which I was so very very proud of because WOW it was growing so FAST...

and than realised it was cyano bacteria. How embarrassing :S
