Is there a such thing as bad Hermit?

    Hmmm..I never thought of them being molts. I have provided bigger shells and many of them have picked up new homes. What I have been finding is a set of legs with a small whitish piece of flesh attached to them...

    Sound like molts. The hermit molts are a much more convincingly solid color than my peppermint shrimp molts have ever been.

    John from ReefCleaners says it's an Antillean Hermit (sometimes called Jade Hermit).

    Being sold now as "very reef-safe". I beg to differ. Clawing their way over coral, chewing on featherduster tubes, killing other hermit species and harassing other crustaceans is NOT what I would consider reef-safe.

    OTOH, I love hermits, so my "rogue" tank is now a species tank for mine. :)

    :) yep mostly the red ones are the jerks the blue ones are calmer and least likely to cuase problems i guess it is a bad hermit
