So this is how I look at cyano and a lot of algae in out tanks after the cycle. As long as they are not suffocating things they are doing something good. Yes they are a signal that something is bad, but they are counter balancing the bad...... so because they are doing that they are doing some good. What I do when I've got cyano or lots of algae is I "harvest" some of it to get some of the bad stuff out, but I keep just a little to keep growing. It's sorta like running a Algae Turf Scrubber in your tank, but not as good. I know this sounds a little nuts, but the way I see it is that if I have cyano I have water problems and the cyano may be keeping me from having some sorta of spike, so I don't want to just get rid of all of it, I want to starve it out. This could just be me being totally nuts and not be worth the trouble at all, but it seems to work for me.

Those should help a lot. I hope it goes well, cyano sucks I feel your pain. lol I read somewhere that the time to remove it is at the end of your light cycle. I guess the idea is that it absorbs nutrients through out the day, then releases some back out after lights out. I don't know if thats true, but I didn't think it would hurt. lol Good luck man.

So far so good tip of the hat to Shecter for his suggestion today we checked in on the tank and much to my amazement! my sub-straight were clean and clear of the nasty thing.... Although some of my corals were looking funky as well...LOL

Lights out seems to be the way to go!

Thanks to all for the help
