Well, at least on the picture on my screen (focussing on the white spot), it is not 660nm:[IMG]

IF you had a meter beside the lights I'm sure they would be 600nm.

I'd find it hard to believe someone could tell the light spectrum of an led via a picture without a calibrated display and camera.

Not trying to be a Debby Downer but its very hard to tell the light spectrum of something just by looking at it. You can get in the ballpark but not down to an exact.

I'd spend the extra $ and get true 660nm red LEDs from Rapid or AquaStyle.

Well, that is the mainly the spectrum of the LCD monitor (Seems to have a blue/white, green and red background light). Of course, you not can get a spectrum from a picture, not even if everything is calibrated. So I just had my fun with the original poster.

If you have a spectrum that in principle has infinite channels and map that in on just 3 (RGB), of course you lose nearly all relevant information (That is why you do not see a difference between real violet around 400nm and a blue/red mixture. Because it maps similar onto the 3 eye channels).

    Regards,
    Steffen

    PS:
If the source is a single line in the spectrum (some more or less wide gausian distribution) and you know exactly how the sensitivity is in the camera for the 3 channels depending on the wavelength (and all the computation/remapping that is done from there until it appears on my screen), in principle it could be possible to decided what the source wavelenght was. (Like if it is more pure redish with less green, it probably has a higher nm)
