Hi, I started my tank about a 9 days ago and its just sitting there cycling and like on the 5th day I notice the pulsating xenia on my live rock, its always extended and pulsating like crazy lol so im guessing is healthy and that thing is growing pretty fast, i found a few on a dry rock i added in there. I am surprise that its alive seeing that my tank is around the middle of the cycle Anyways thats not the issue my question is no the picture:

What is that round thing stuck on the rock right above the xenia? Its brown with a tan-ish yellow-ish rim. I just noticed it today day 9 and i also found it in other parts of that same rock. Is that a mushroom coral? Should I be worried? should i remove it seeing that its soo close to the xenia and i dont want anything to happen to it. Thanks for you help.

P.S. I'm Totally new to this. I have a 10 gallon tank, I AM AWARE! that is more difficult to take care of a nano tank so small then a 55 gallon one, but I like a good challenge and I'm also am aware of the risks and all that. So yeah. My lighting is great theres 48 watts of T5 lights one white one blue and moon lights. Temperature is at 76 Im thinking or raising it a bit. Specific gravity is between 1.023-1.024. and I have around 7-8 pounds of live rock. Gonna add 2 more pounds.[IMG] and if you check the rest of the album there is more of the same thing.

yeah its called pom pom xenia...very easy to grow, almost impossible to kill..and can take over a tank fairly quick...but is also an easy money maker to sell to beginners..

Oh okay now i know the exact name Thanks!!! But the thing I'm referring to is stuck to the rock above the Xenia. Its that big patch of brown with the yellow-ish tan-ish colored rim around it.

can't ID the green thing, but that's not "pom pom xenia" but probably xenia elongata...

pom pom xenia looks more like this:

and in my experience doesn't grow like a weed the same way xenia elongata does...
