Im going to be building a refugium soon and would like to know if this is a good design. It will be for my 20 gallon aquarium that I am developing into a reef this summer so I am using a 10 gallon aquarium to build the sump (that would be big enough right?) Also what should I put in it besides Caulerpa or Chaeto I want to get my nitrates low enough so that I can eventually keep SPS corals will the refugium do this for me?

The design is based on this one: Melev's Reef - Sump Model A

and here are the photos I made:

That looks pretty good! the size is fine if you are able to fit all you want in there like skimmer, etc, etc... just the bigger you go the more water you can have so the more stable the system of course.

I have seen people have issues with the Chaeto and living stuff in your sump, but as always everyone has their own experiences and every tank is different! =)
