I would highly question the quality. $260 is not a lot to pay for a metal halide fixture. The ballasts probably aren't great, which usually means they are less efficient which will cost you more in your electric bill. Plus there are no fans to cool it, at least that I saw. Also, I think it looks funny, like they designed the MH part and then bolted two T5s to the outside. Remember, in this hobby, you get what you pay for.

Its just about the same thing. You probably want to go up to $500 at least for a decent mh/ t5 light.

I think it is the same thing, if you look at the design of the body, the vents are the same as the other one. I'm not saying you shouldn't get it, I'm just letting you know that cheap fixtures usually have heat problems, are louder, have hotter and less efficient ballasts and are not made to last. Usually these units are made in China with cheaper components and thus the price difference.

The ebay seller told me they ran so cool they didnt need a fan!!!!
I wrote him back and asked how about after I plug the unit in?
    Still no response....could take day's.

But he does offer a 5 year warranty.
I wonder if breaking the seal on the cardboard shipping box void's the warranty?

Might want to look for an ebay seller hombby, I got my Odyssea lights from him. The bulbs aren't great, the ballasts aren't great, but overall it's a decent unit. As cash allows replace the ballasts and bulbs. I got my 48" 2x250 for $350. Even after replacing ballasts and bulbs you'll come out ahead. Other folks on here have done the same.

LOL!!!! Pretty much dude. Pretty much.

Look into Maristar (by Sunlight Supply). They make a good fixture. Reefgeek.com has them if you want to see what the prices are give or take. AAT could probably get you a set at a good price as well. Both are sponsors.

The Maristars are great but then you are looking at $500-$600 for the fixture, then add on ballasts and lamps.....Its definately more than the cheapo fixture.

If you are looking for cheaper but still decent look into Coralife or Current, I know, you are all saying, Frag you bash these lights everyday, well I would sure take either of them over some no name Ebay light.

    Good luck!
