Hey everyone well..............im thinking of doing a sump now becasue i have to much equipment hanging in the bak of my tank!!!! an i would like to build the rock work up in places so i need to get the equipment out of here. S

So my friend has a 20 gallon sump i was wondering if that would be a good sump for my 75 gallon he said its an oceanic.........dont know if thats good or not, but if i decide to get it and its good for my tank what should i look for in price......like what would be a rediulous price for that and what would be reasonable

I dont see a problem with that 20g, its a little small, but I think it will work. Oceanic is a good brand.

You really want as large a sump as you can fit in wherever it is going to go.

Need room in it for skimmer and return pumps, etc.
20 gal is really not very large...

Big advantage of a sump is adding to total water volumn and having a place to tuck away equipment.

Rubbermaid tubs come in all sizes and work just great.

    And are cheap also...

    ;)

Oceanic is a great brand, had 2 of their 58g's but with a 75g a 20g sump may be cutting it a little close, mainly depends on where you put the overflows

I would just get a cheap tank like a short 30G or really anything that you can get in your stand

Whats so bad about a 20 gallon sump? Seems like a popular choice, i just put baffles in a 20L tank for my 90 its working better than i could have hoped. I got an over under over baffle set up with a euro reef rs135 mag 7 return pump and phosban 150 reactor and theres still space for bags of carbon a filter sock and another phosban reactor if i wanted. I also have hardly any micro bubbles in my display tank. My first baffle is set at 7 inchers tall and the return area is 6.5" tall meaning i roughly have 4.5-5" inches of space left in the tank for power outage or return pump failure. When pump is cut off sump fills maybe an inch at best. If i were to do it all over again id use a 20 gallon sump, as a matter a fact i got a brand new 65 in the basement with a spare 20 gallon im gonna turn into a sump since the one on the 90 fit the bill flawlessly. Btw, i did my research for a few months and asked questions and this is my first sump ever. Get the 20 and do your homework...good luck
